This year a new Theatre Teacher Association is starting up called The Utah Advisory Council of Theatre Teachers. The UACTT Association will provide assistance to teachers in many different ways. We are currently putting a group of passionate teachers together to provide mentoring and an annual Theatre Teacher Summer Retreat among other things.
Our goal is to assist teachers in every aspect of their job by creating a support system that can be utilized at all times. Teaching Drama is one of the toughest jobs out there and foreign to most people who don't live it and breathe it. It is also hard for Theatre Teachers to survive because they burn out quickly and don't know how to manage their time and program. We are here to make your jobs better, listen to your concerns, mentor and assist you in networking as well as help you grow as a teacher through training and education. More information will be coming your way about UACTT.
The Theatre Teacher Summer Retreat will be held July 27th and 28th in St. George Utah. It will provide teacher workshops on curriculum development, networking, as well as celebrating theatre by attending a Tuacahn Musical. You will also receive licensure points for attending. Michael Bahr will be the featured guest speaker. Registration forms will be mailed out shortly. We will also be holding a teacher meeting to explain this new association at the Utah Theatre Association. The date and time will be announced shortly.
